Grizzly Cam

Watch Grinder and Coola, our two orphaned grizzly bears, as they hibernate with this live view from inside their den. The inside of the den is pitch black, but our infrared camera allows us to keep an eye on them.

Grizzly Bears are not true hibernators, but rather enter a period of winter dormancy. During this time they don’t eat, drink, urinate or defecate – they do however do a lot of moving around! It’s not uncommon to see Grinder and Coola sit up, stretch, groom themselves, remake the bed and even go for a little wander outside the sleeping chamber. It is thought that this activity keeps their muscles and bones strong over the three to four months inside the den.

Check in from time to time and you may even see some of this activity for yourself!

This camera also broadcasts in infrared allowing you to watch for the bears at any time of day!
