2010 Legacy: NBC's "Today"

The Anchors

During the course of the Games, “Today” gave viewers an all-access pass to everything Olympic. “Today” went behind-the-scenes of the Games and profile Team USA. Each morning, Matt, Meredith, Al and Ann talked to the Olympic teams, and they checked in with the athletes live each day as they went for the gold. The 2010 Vancouver Olympics marks the seventh Olympic Games the “Today” show has traveled to and covered, and here are your hosts:

MATT LAUER - Co-Anchor

Matt Lauer has been co-anchor of NBC News’ TODAY since January 6, 1997. He joined TODAY in January 1994 as news anchor. From September 1992 to September 1996, Lauer was at WNBC-TV, the NBC Television Station in New York. There he served as a co-anchor of the early morning newscast “Today in New York” from September 1992 until September 1994, and as a co-anchor of the early evening newscast “News Channel 4/Live at Five” from August 1993 until September 1996. He began substituting on TODAY as a news anchor in early 1993 before becoming the permanent news anchor in 1994.

MEREDITH VIEIRA - Co-Anchor

Meredith Vieira has been co-anchor of NBC News’ TODAY since September 13, 2006. She also serves as host of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire,” a position she’s held since 2002, for which she won a Daytime Emmy Award in August 2009. Vieira had been moderator of ABC's “The View” since the show's inception in 1997. She started at ABC in 1993 when she joined their news division as Chief Correspondent of “Turning Point,” which debuted in March 1994 and where she earned her seventh Emmy Award.

ANN CURRY - News Anchor

Ann Curry is the news anchor of NBC News’ “Today,” America’s number one morning news program, and the anchor of “Dateline NBC,” the network’s award-winning newsmagazine.  Curry joined the “Today” show in March of 1997, and in May 2005, she was named co-anchor of “Dateline NBC.”  Curry also regularly substitute anchors for “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.” 

AL ROKER - Weather and Feature Reporter

Al Roker has been the weather and feature reporter on NBC News’ Today since January 1996.  Until January of 2000, Roker also served as the weekday weather forecaster for News Channel 4’s early evening newscast Live at 5 on WNBC-TV, NBC’s flagship owned and operated station in New York City. Roker began his broadcasting career while still in college by landing a job as a weekend weatherman WTVH-TV in Syracuse, N.Y. in 1974.  He is a recipient of the American Meteorological Society’s prestigious Seal of Approval and has been a pioneer in the use of computer graphics for weathercasting.
