Description of Coverage
Prior to the end of the winter season, Grouse Mountain will reimburse a percentage of the Season's Pass price described under Benefit in the event of:
- Injury, sickness or death of an Insured which results in non-participation in the sport for at least 30 consecutive days.
- A job transfer effective 45 days or more after the purchase of the Season's Pass, which requires relocation of the Insured's principle residence outside a reasonably accessible radius of the ski area. The transfer must be with the same employer the Insured worked for at the time of purchase of the Season's Pass.
- Pregnancy will not result in a refund of money, however the season pass can be transferred to the next winter season.
This coverage will allow for the cancellation of the Season's Pass for the Passholder and up to three (3) additional family members insured on the original application.
Benefit
The insurer will reimburse the listed percentage of the Season's Pass Price resulting from Non Participation by the Insured following an event under Description of Coverage from the official opening date of the ski area.
- 30 days of official opening 100% refund
- 31 - 60 days of official opening 70% refund
- 61 - 90 days of official opening 40% refund
- 91 - 120 days of official opening 20% refund
- The date of injury or ultimate diagnosis of sickness; or
- The date on which a job transfer with the Insured's employer takes effect
Exclusions
This insurance does not cover loss cause or contributed to by:
- Any loss as a result of an Injury or Sickness to the Insured, which required any or all of, medical consultation, medical treatment or hospitalization within 180 days immediately preceding the purchase date of the Season's Pass;
- Emotional, mental or nervous disorders, intentionally self-inflicted injury, use of prohibited drugs or intoxicants;
- Injury received while participating in Professional sport activities;
- Injury or sickness that does not prevent participation in the sport for which the Season's Pass was purchased;
- An event which at the time of purchase could reasonably have been expected to occur;
- Weather
- War or terrorism
- This insurance is valid only if purchased concurrently with the Season's Pass.
- Non-participation must be on the written advice of the attending physician (self-diagnosis by a physician is not valid.)
- The Insurer must be notified of a claim and the Season's Pass surrendered with the claim. Failure to do so will invalidate any claim.
- Present your claim in writing to the address below within 45 continuous days of the Insured person's non-participation.
- When presenting your claim provide the following:
a) Letter requesting the claim
b) Original Season Pass and/or membership
c) Receipt from the purchase of the Season's Pass and/or membership and purchase of this insurance
d) Medical report for attending physician providing:
- A complete diagnosis
- Date of first medical consultation and date diagnosis made
- Prognosis, including statement that the Insured is unable to participate in the sport for at least 30 consecutive days - In the event of job transfer, a letter from the Insured's employer indicating the date of notification, the date job takes effect, and the place of transfer.
