(North Vancouver) It was a beautiful morning on Grouse Mountain as hundreds of participants celebrated 25 years on the Grouse Grind® at this year’s Clearly.ca Grouse Grind Mountain Run®, an inspiring event focused on personal achievement and fundraising through the Grind For Kids program in support of BC Children’s Hospital.

First place in the men’s category was claimed by Geoff Kabush, who crossed the finish line with a time of 27 minutes and 18 seconds. Following close behind, with a second place finish was Michael Simpson of North Vancouver with a time of 27:41. Coming in with a third place finish was Nick Elson with a time of 28:16.

In the women’s category, first and second place honours were claimed by 16-year old twins Christina and Julie Sevsek from Surrey with times of 33:17 and 33:19 respectively. Rounding out third place was Rebecca Sheffield with a time of 33:43.

“We were thrilled to welcome Grinders of all ages and ability levels to Grouse Mountain for the 25th anniversary of the Clearly.ca Grouse Grind Mountain Run,” said Race Director Lynn Chappell. “Today’s successful event was a chance to celebrate individual accomplishments while at the same time raising valuable funds for BC Children’s Hospital.”

As the showcase event of the Grouse Grind® season, the Clearly.ca Grouse Grind Mountain Run® draws hundreds of participants of all ages and abilities each year. From elite mountain runners to leisurely hikers, the event is inclusive of every age and fitness level with an emphasis on personal goal setting and achievement.

As in past years, proceeds from the Clearly.ca Grouse Grind Mountain Run® provide funds to the annual Grind For Kids campaign which has raised over $700,000 to date in support of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. Participants are encouraged to collect pledges for every completed Grind during the season. For more information about Grind For Kids, please visit grindforkids.ca
