(North Vancouver) As hikers hit the iconic Grouse Grind trail for another season of personal achievement on Mother Nature’s Stairmaster, Grouse Mountain is pleased to announce that the inaugural Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 21st at the Peak of Vancouver.

As the first official and only sanctioned event to determine the record-holder for most ascents of the Grouse Grind in a one-day period, the Multi-Grind Challenge is aimed at the hardiest of Grinders looking to set a personal best or set the bar as the official Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge record holder. In order for their Grinds to be officially recognized, participants must adhere to the trail’s special operating times applicable for that day only.

“We are thrilled to host our first-ever Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge, coinciding with the summer solstice,” said Grouse Mountain general manager Michael Cameron. “Elite athletes have told us that this is a record they are passionate about and we are excited to deliver what we know will be a historic and very memorable event on the longest day of the year.”

As with all Grouse Mountain events, the Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge has a charitable angle as participants will commit to raising funds for the annual Grind For Kids campaign in support of BC Children’s Hospital. For more information about Grind For Kids, please visit grindforkids.ca.

For those not participating in the Multi-Grouse Grind Challenge, spectators and supporters are invited to celebrate the beginning of the 2014 Grind season and launch of the Grouse Grind iPhone app during our party on the chalet plaza featuring music, mountaintop yoga and sponsor demonstrations.
