Grouse Mountain invites Teachers to join us on the Province-wide Professional Development Day, October 23, 2015. It's a day packed with adventure including an opportunity to meet Wildlife Ambassador Cleo, the Barn owl; an inspiring talk by Lori Bartley, Park Interpretation Specialist with Metro Vancouver Regional Parks; and a special First Nations Welcome from Squamish Elder, Willie “Kwel-A-A-Nexw” Nahanee.

The focus of the day is on creating memories featuring the importance of play and how to embed learning and create long-lasting memories. Create some of your own memories and see how we take “playing” to a higher level on Grouse Mountain.

There are two sessions. For those wishing to do the Grouse Grind (weather permitting), arrive in time to join the 9:00 Session in Lupins at the Chalet.

Itinerary – First Session 
8:00 Arrival – Registration at Guest Services. Receive Skyride tickets, itinerary and parking pass 
8:15-9:00 - Meet ‘n Greet in Lupins: 
  • Coffee and muffins in Lupins
  • Special appearance by “Cleo”
  • Displays with Q&A: Education, Snow School, Patrol, Lori Bartley, Call Centre and Education
9:00-10:00 - Presentations in The Theatre in the Sky:
  • Traditional First Nations Welcome and Song
  • Grouse Mountain team speakers
  • Lori Bartley
10:00-10:15 Break 
10:15-10:45 Guided Ecowalks to Feasthouse around Blue Grouse Lake 
10:45-11:30 Hiwus Presentation and Q&A in Feasthouse 
11:30-12:00 Guided walk to Grizzly Habitat and Yurt 
12:00 Opportunity to drop-in at The Eye of the Wind (weather dependent)

Bio for Guest Speaker, Lori Bartley
Lori Bartley is a Park Interpretation Specialist with Metro Vancouver Regional Parks with over 25 years experience presenting nature programs to children and adults. She is a naturalist, puppeteer, singer and story teller and especially enjoys sharing her skills with people who work with children in the outdoors. Lori is an award winning heritage interpreter with a background in public programming. Her credentials include Museum Education Technician, Bachelor of Arts, Masters of Environmental Education coursework and plenty of years in the field.
