(North Vancouver) It’s the news Lower Mainland hikers have been eagerly awaiting; the Grouse Grind® will officially open for the 2017 hiking season on Saturday, June 17th from 6:15 am until 7:30 pm.

“After much anticipation we’re thrilled that the iconic Grouse Grind® trail will be opening this weekend,” said Julia Grant, Grouse Mountain Communications Manager. “With a fantastic lineup of events in store and our 8th season of Grind For Kids hitting the trail, the 2017 Grind season promises to be full of action as hikers once again take on Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.”

One of North America’s most popular hikes, the Grouse Grind® is a 2.9-kilometre trail that begins at the base of Grouse Mountain and concludes just outside the Peak Chalet. This summer, Grouse Mountain is hosting a number of exciting events on the Grouse Grind® including the Multi-Grouse Grind® Challenge (June 20), Seek the Peak (June 25) and the Grouse Grind® Mountain Run (September 16). Grouse Mountain’s Grind10 program will also return for its second season from July 1st to 15th.

This Grind season also marks the 8th year of the Grind For Kids program which has raised more than $970,000 for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation since 2010. With the passionate support of the Grind community, Grouse Mountain hopes to hit the $1 Million mark in support of BC’s sick kids.
