Team Daniel Wins Official Face Off on the Grouse Grind at Sedin vs. Sedin
400 participants joined Team Daniel and Team Henrik for the inaugural race, raising $85,000 for the Sedin Family Foundation in support of the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund’s Adopt-A-School program

NORTH VANCOUVER, September 28, 2026 – A friendly rivalry took over the Grouse Grind on Sunday, September 27 as Daniel and Henrik Sedin went head-to-head on Vancouver’s iconic, gruelling trail for the inaugural Sedin vs. Sedin race. The brothers were joined by 400 participants competing on either Team Daniel or Team Henrik, with Team Daniel claiming victory.
The winning team was determined by a combination of collective race times and total funds raised. While Daniel and Henrik are no strangers to the Grouse Grind, this was their first official head-to-head race on the trail. Daniel claimed bragging rights, reaching the summit in 42:37, while Henrik followed closely with a time of 43:22.
To date, $85,000 has been raised for the Sedin Family Foundation, with fundraising continuing through Monday, September 28 via the Prize Raffle. All funds will support the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund’s Adopt-A-School program, helping kids and families across B.C. access food programs, clothing and other essentials.
“We’ve done the Grouse Grind many times over the last 26 years, but getting the chance to officially race each other for a great cause and have so many people join us made the day really special,” said Daniel Sedin. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who raced, fundraised and donated in support of the Sedin Family Foundation, and proud to kick-off the Adopt-A-School program’s fall fundraising campaign in a big way. As for the rivalry, we might need a rematch next year,” added Henrik Sedin.
Some additional familiar faces also took on the Grind in support of the cause, with Jennifer Gardiner, Canadian Olympian and Vancouver Goldeneye’s player crossing the finish line in 53:23 and Trevor Linden, former Vancouver Canucks captain finishing in 47:41. The overall winner was Jordan Guenette, finishing with a time of 28:12, followed by Alexandre Comeau in second with a time of 29:29 and Charlie Sikkema in third with a time of 31:22.
“The energy on the Grouse Grind and the mountaintop was incredible,” said Trevor Linden. “Seeing everyone come together to give back to local B.C. children and families, and have fun doing it, made me grateful to be part of such an amazing community.”
Following the race, participants and supporters came together for the Sedin Family Foundation Fun Day at Grouse Mountain, featuring a pancake breakfast, live DJ, family activities, participant awards and more.
