We are excited to share the ongoing progress of Grouse Mountain’s state-of-the-art gondola! Slated to open during fall/winter 2024, the gondola marks the start of a new chapter for us leading up to the Resort’s centennial in 2026.

Across May and June, the terminals for both the Plateau Station and the Base Station were put into place, and works continue on their structures.

To make way for the new gondola, at the end of June, the iconic Blue Tram was decommissioned after 58 years of operation. The tram cars are currently both stationed at the base of the mountain, and while our plans for them aren’t yet finalised, this won’t be the last you see of the Blue Tram.

With the removal of the Blue Tram, another major phase of the project was able to progress - the assembly of the towers and line work that will eventually link the two stations together over a 2,600 foot vertical rise. Helicopters were used to deliver concrete for the remaining foundations as well as transporting nine of the 14 towers into place. To access one of locations, the Skyride was used as a winch to transport the pieces into place, check it out in the video! Guests will continue to see towers appear over the next few months!

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the Resort’s inaugural ski season in 2026, we are thrilled with the strides made in the ongoing evolution of this transformative project. The gondola, and recently announced Mountain Coaster and Mountain Bike Park projects support the continued investment in the world-class experience Grouse Mountain offers and ensure Vancouver’s number one natural attraction is accessible for generations to come.
