In the midst of another fantastic season on the Grouse Grind, Grouse Mountain Resorts is very pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2013 ClearlyContacts.ca Grouse Grind Challenge slated for Sunday, September 15th.

Comprised of two race categories, athletes who can complete a Grind in less than 45 minutes are encouraged to register for the 23rd annual Grouse Grind Mountain Run in an attempt to beat their personal best while challenging reigning record-holder Sebastian Salas who clocked in at a blazing 23:48 during last year’s race and has won five consecutive events since 2008.

For participants who prefer a more leisurely pace, hikers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to reserve their place at the Grouse Grind start line in an effort to beat their best Grind time or simply challenge themselves in their first Grind during the Solo Challenge.

“Year after year, the Grouse Grind attracts individuals from throughout the lower mainland and around the world who are passionate about fitness, the outdoors and the spirit of healthy competition,” said Grouse Mountain general manager Michael Cameron. “As we celebrate our 23rd anniversary of this outstanding event, we are very pleased to invite Grinders of all abilities to test their limits on the trail while raising funds for Grind For Kids in support of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

Considered to be the annual showcase event of the Grouse Grind season, the ClearlyContacts.ca Grouse Grind Challenge draws hundreds of participants each year and has become the ultimate fitness bragging right for outdoor enthusiasts on the west coast. From elite mountain runners to leisurely hikers, the event is inclusive of every age and fitness level with an emphasis on personal goal setting and achievement.

"As a company that calls Vancouver home, the Grouse Grind is very much a part of our corporate culture here at ClearlyContacts.ca as many of our staff members are avid Grinders,” said Roger Hardy, CEO of ClearlyContacts.ca. "We are thrilled to be the title sponsor of the 2013 ClearlyContacts.ca Grouse Grind Challenge and we look forward to celebrating a great day of competition and accomplishment atop Grouse Mountain.”

Following the race, participants will be rewarded for their efforts with an exclusive after-party atop Grouse Mountain on the Alpine Plaza, featuring a special awards ceremony, barbecue, beer garden, music, massage services, and family-friendly activities along with a highly-anticipated grand prize draw.

As in past years, proceeds from the ClearlyContacts.ca Grouse Grind Challenge provide funds to the annual Grind For Kids campaign in support of BC Children's Hospital. For more information about Grind For Kids, please visit grindforkids.ca.
