Each year The Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s Ascent for Alzheimer’s event sends a team to Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa to raise funds and awareness for the Society.

Just as Ascent for Alzheimer’s is a team-focused journey on Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, this spirit of camaraderie and compassionate commitment continues through the Mt. Kilimanjaro Grouse Grind for Alzheimer’s, a team-oriented event here on Grouse Mountain connected to the Mt. Kilimanjaro experience!

Mt. Kilimanjaro elevation = 19,340 feet
Grouse Mountain elevation = 2,800 feet
7: The number of trips up Grouse Grind that equal 1 ascent of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Teams are asked to complete a minimum of seven trips up the Grind in one day. (Example: With seven people on a team, each does one trip up. With five people on a team, two people have to do it twice.)

  • Create a team online using our online fundraising tool then create a team page, bio, and individual pages.
  • Each person sets their own individual fundraising goals of $500 or more.
