Happy Birthday to our two resident Grizzly Bears - Grinder and Coola!   They were born sometime in around January in the winter of 2000/2001.  All Grizzly Bears are born during the hibernation period as an adaptation for survival.

The bear cubs are not much bigger than a guinea pig when born and are born nearly hairless with their eyes closed.  Over the first few months they grow quickly and by the time hibernation is over they are big enough to follow mom out of the den.

Unfortunately shortly after leaving the den both Grinder and Coola were orphaned but fortunately we were able to rescue them and provide them with an amazing natural habitat in which to grow up - it's hard to believe it's been 15 years!

Happy Bearthday Boys!
