Give your weekend a serious lift on Grouse Mountain, where you can soar high above the city, the ocean and the snowy mountain peaks on a helicopter tour.

Among the excursions are the Lions Peak Tour, where you get an up-close look at the legendary Lions; the Coastal Scenic Tour, which takes you over local mountains, English Bay and Stanley Park; and the Crown Mountain Tour where you zoom in on an extinct volcano.

“Within 10 seconds, you’re in rugged West Coast mountains, so you’re getting the jagged peaks, the lakes and the glaciers,” says Blackcomb Aviation Vice President Steve Wright. “So it’s ‘Ooh, aah’ as soon as you lift off.”

Adventurers with thicker wallets can also try the Fly, Dine and Drive package, where you fly from downtown Vancouver to the peak of Grouse, then enjoy a gourmet dinner and a limo ride back to town, or the Whistler Excursion, which lands you at the peak of Whistler.

The tours are weather permitting, so best to phone in advance; walk-ins are also welcome on the peak of Grouse.

Grouse Mountain heli-tours start this weekend and run until Sept. 30.
